How to use this interview question generator

  1. Narrow it down. Choose the role you are applying for, a question type, and the stage you are preparing for. Leave a filter on “Any” to mix.
  2. Get a question and hear it. Press “Next question”. Your browser reads it out loud, the way an interviewer would.
  3. Answer out loud, against the clock. Start the 2-minute timer and answer as if someone were listening. Most answers land between one and two minutes.
  4. Check the tip, then go again. Each question type comes with a short reminder of what a strong answer contains.

Nothing is saved and nothing is sent: the questions are in the page and the voice is your browser’s own.

A random interview question generator, with filters that matter

Real interviews do not follow your notes, so practising in a random order is closer to the real thing than reading a list from top to bottom. The generator draws from 156 questions without repeating one until you have seen every question that matches your filters. The filters reflect how interviews are actually structured:

  • Role: software engineer, product manager, data analyst, marketing, sales, customer success, project manager, designer, nurse, teacher, finance and accounting, operations. Picking a role adds its specific questions to the general ones.
  • Type: behavioral, situational, motivation and fit, strengths and weaknesses, and role-specific.
  • Stage: the HR screen (fit, motivation, logistics), the hiring manager interview (how you work, with examples) and the final round (judgement, trade-offs, what you would change).

Behavioral interview questions generator: practise with STAR

Choose “Behavioral” to get only the “tell me about a time…” questions. Answer each one with the STAR structure: the situation in a sentence, your task, the actions you took (most of your time goes here, and say “I”, not “we”), and the result, with a number if you have one. Our guide to behavioral interview questions walks through the method with full examples.

Is this an AI interview question generator?

No, and that is deliberate. Many tools called “AI interview question generators” send your job title to a language model and return a list. These questions were written and checked by hand, so they read like what interviewers actually ask, and the tool works instantly in your browser, without an account. The AI is in the Readyo app instead, where it does something a list cannot: it listens to your answer and asks a follow-up.

Practice interview questions out loud, not in your head

Reading a question and thinking “I know what I would say” feels like preparation, but it skips the hard part: finding the first sentence, keeping to a structure and stopping on time. Saying the answer out loud shows you where you ramble, where you have no example and where you go blank. That is why the generator speaks the question and starts a clock.

Practice interview questions to start with

If you only have ten minutes, these come up in almost every interview:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why do you want to work here?
  • What is your greatest weakness?
  • Tell me about a time you had to work with a difficult colleague.
  • Tell me about a time you made a mistake at work. What happened next?
  • Describe a time you had to juggle several priorities at once.
  • What would you do in your first 30 days in this role?
  • Why should we hire you?
  • Do you have any questions for us?

For the first one, see how to answer “tell me about yourself”; for the weakness question, this guide with six example answers.

Frequently asked questions

Is this interview question generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no account, no sign-up and no limit. It is made by Readyo, an iPhone app for spoken interview practice; the app is free to download and its interviews are paid, but this web tool costs nothing.

Where do the questions come from?

They were written by hand from the questions that come up most often in HR screens, hiring manager interviews and final rounds, plus six role-specific questions for each of twelve common roles. They are not generated by an AI model.

How does the generator read questions out loud?

It uses the speech feature built into your browser (the Web Speech API) and prefers a voice installed on your device. Some browsers only offer online voices, in which case the browser’s own speech service reads the question text. If your browser has no voice at all, the question simply appears on screen.

How long should my answer be?

Aim for one to two minutes for most questions. Behavioral answers using STAR usually need about 90 seconds; quick factual questions can take 30 seconds. The 2-minute timer helps you notice when you are running long.

Can I get behavioral interview questions only?

Yes. Set the question type to “Behavioral” to get only “tell me about a time…” questions, and combine it with a role or a stage if you want.

Does it save my questions or answers?

No. Nothing is stored or sent. The list of questions you have seen disappears when you close or reload the page, and the tool never hears your answers.

How is the Readyo app different?

In the app, an AI interviewer asks the questions out loud, listens to your spoken answer, can ask a follow-up, and gives you a report that scores relevance, structure, evidence, clarity and composure, with an improved version of each answer built from what you said. It is an iPhone app, free to download, and interviews are paid.
